Flexible Vision Vibratory Bowl Feeder – Part Recognition & Sorting

Manufacturers now face frequent product changes, small batches and high mix. Danikor’s vision-enabled flexible vibratory bowl feeder has become a popular solution, eliminating many drawbacks of traditional feeding. Parts are vibrated from the supply hopper onto the feeder surface; an overhead camera instantly captures feature-point coordinates and part attributes (colour, shape, size). A robot then picks each part at the correct position and orientation.

The system is multi-purpose and offers very short change-over times.

  1. Can the part be recognised?
Most parts can – provided they meet the following criteria:
    • Rigid (no hinges or flexible sections)
    • Opaque (transparent glass or plastic is difficult)
    • High batch-to-batch similarity (fruit, for example, fails this test)
    • Non-mirror surfaces (high gloss is acceptable, mirror finish is not)
Parts with extremely large “open” areas and no distinct surface features usually cannot be recognised.

 2.Sorting workflow
Industrial sorting has four steps: locate → identify → grip → place.
Traditional manual sorting suffers from operator fatigue; conventional robots rely on fixed, pre-taught positions and cannot adapt to random part orientations. By combining flexible vibration with machine vision, robots can now adapt on the fly, changing both work objects and sequences in real time.

3.Danikor’s four advantages for high-precision, high-speed, fully integrated sorting

NO.1 Danikor Vision Library built-in
– No separate vision software to install; system is plug-and-play.
– Tight integration delivers superior user experience.
– Optimised vision interface shortens learning curve.
– Proprietary one-click calibration routine.

NO.2 One-click vision-template generation
If the part appears as a clear black/white silhouette, the system can auto-generate a template without manual parameter tuning.

NO.3 Multiple grippers & matrix placements
– Supports up to six suction nozzles in one gripper array.
– After pick-up, placement positions can be defined as a user-configurable matrix: set rows, columns, datum point, X and Y references – ready to run.

NO.4 Product protection & low noise
Traditional vibratory bowls fling parts up a spiral track—loud and prone to scratches. The Danikor flexible feeder uses controlled, directional vibration, eliminating both noise and part damage.
